What Will Teaching in the 21st Century be Like?
By: Chelsea Powers

Professor Dancelot
The video "Professor Dancelot" sends the message of not having adequate resources for teaching in the 21st century. Sitting in a classroom with a teacher and a power point presentation does not fulfill the teaching requirements that are needed for students to learn the material that is being taught. When it was time for students to take a test on the different dances they all were clueless. This is why it is so important for students to have the opportunity to learn hands on in a fun environment.

Teaching in the 21st century
What will be the role of teachers in the 21st century? The author demonstrates the importance of
teachers and how they will teach their students. I use Google everyday. If I do not know something where else do you look but Google. It was not until I started taking EDM310 that there was so much more to Google besides just a search engine. I believe the author of this video is teaching us as future teachers that we do not have to know everything in order to be a good teacher, but utilize our skills, collaborate with each other, teach students to find the answer and use all the available resources.

Who's ahead in the learning race?
When technology comes into play I would have to say elementary children are definitely on top of the game. It is amazing to me of how quickly they catch on to things. I am most definitely on the lower end of learning when it comes to technology. It amazes me what my son is learning in elementary school that I did not know until I was in middle school.

Harness your students digital smarts
I thought it was very interesting when Vicki Davis said "I like to teach my students to learn how to learn". I really started thinking about this and it makes a lot of sense. Students have to be taught the proper way to learn something and by collaborating with others and using PBL. What better way for a student to learn.

Flipping the classroom
I have not heard of "Flipping the classroom" until now. I think this is a great idea! This gives students an idea of what they will be learning the next day and prepare them for the material that they will be learning.

The Networked Student
In this video it showed many different ways networked student can utilize different tools that are offered and why they use them. You are basically teaching yourself and finding answers over the internet so why would you even need a teacher?? In my opinion the teacher plays a very important role in teaching you how to find the right answers in the right way. They are there for support and to show you how to utilize the tools that you need.

Honestly... I have heard how horrible this class is. EDM 310 is a very demanding course. It says to prepare to spend 9 hrs. a week but I would say prepare for more. The best advice I can give for this course is not to fall behind. The most difficult aspect for this course is group work and trying to get everyone in your group to meet at the same time. I believe this class is going to be a lot better than the previous.

Who am I? Chelsea Powers
Why do I want to be an educator? To help children succeed and learn.
What does an educator do in his or
her practice? teach, morals, values
What are my passions? My family and children.

Hi everyone, My name is Chelsea Powers! I work full time at a family owned metal fabrication company that builds components for the oil field industry. I love my job but every since I was younger I have always felt my calling to be a teacher. I have two children, Jesse is 9yrs. old and loves hunting and fishing. My younger stepson is Jaxon and loves anything his older brother does! I have chosen this as a profession because my job is so demanding I want to be able to spend more time with my children and being a teacher definitely has this benefit. An educator is very important to make sure that our future society becomes good citizens in our community. They also teach good morals and values that some children don't receive at home. My passion is my family and children! In our spare time we have a home in North Alabama where we go to hunt. If we are not in the woods hunting we are on the water fishing.
